Manuel Knight

Manuel Knight grew up in Perry Homes, one of the ghettos in Atlanta, Georgia, where life was hard and a constant struggle. A turning point was when Manuel one day came home and found his mother crying on the steps because she could not afford to buy Christmas presents for her children.

“I made a promise to myself not letting the ghetto get the best of me. Years later I joined the U.S. Army and eventually found myself in operation Desert Storm in Iraq and Kuwait with Task Force Spartan, 5th Bn, 18th Infantry. An extremely hostile environment that showed me the true meaning of teamwork and effective leadership.”
